I turned 26 last week

Remember when your mom used to make cupcakes for your birthday and you got to take them to school to share with your class? I still get to do that.

I really love being in first grade. Happy Birthday Mrs. Pearson.

All I wanted for my birthday was some brunch. I could start everyday like this.

Anyone recognize this place? Think 1998.

Then we stopped by the Met. We were in the neighborhood.

Smelled some trees and welcomed December into our hearts.

Central Park begged for us to take a picture.

(Central Park picture #87)

Realized I didn't have a Times Square picture. Now I do.

Free dinner at Big Daddy's. Smile if you sign up online for free birthday coupons 6 months before your birthday.

Little comedy show. I LOLed.

I was born in November. I don't have birthday cake. I have pie. With 2 forks and no plates.

Birthdays in New York are better.

P.S. We went to the parade.

Wonderful Day.

Thanksgiving will always be my most favorite holiday.

Our first NYC Thanksgiving with friends.

(At our chapel eating because NYC apartments only come in size small and extra small)

More (better) pictures here.

you all ready for this?

So pumped for:

My birthday! November is my month. I own November.

Spending Thanksgiving with lots of good friends who have quickly become family in this big crazy city. We need each other.

'24' marathon and relaxing for 2 days. Love you first graders, but Mrs. Pearson needs to spend some time with her "special friend" Mr. Pearson.

Putting pumpkin and sugar in everything I bake. Extra small kitchen: you don't scare me. Bring it.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. 'Miracle on 34th Street' raised me.

Rockefeller Tree Lighting. Hot cocoa, layers, and major blog-picture opp.

Homemade Christmas Tree Garland. I'm thinking felt. I'm ok with doing a new tree theme each year.

The renewed focus on my Savior and this beautiful life we all have. So many opportunities to share this message with those around me. So many.

Pictures:

We drove up to the suburbs to get a glance at some houses. We held hands and talked about the future when we'll be filthy rich, have lots of babies and no worries.

Oh yeah, I wear scarves and boots now. All the time. I know, who am I? No more flip flops in November.

Bonus: Bekka's awesome Thanksgiving post from her awesome blog. I fully support any post on the subject.

Hello Fall, welcome to New York.
Please make yourself at home and stay as long as you would like.

(Picture taken almost exactly a year ago when we came to "scope" out the city. I use old pics when I'm too lazy to take new ones.)

Past Tense

I used to think that NYC would be just like the movies…now I think it’s better

I used to think NY had good food…now I know it’s the best in the world

I used to think I was a summer person…now Fall in NY has completely changed me

I used to think that I wanted a house….now I think my studio apartment is perfect

I used to think people on the subway looked mean and grouchy…now I know they probably have an hour commute like me and they are just tired (I now look mean and grouchy)

I used to think umbrellas were just accessories that rolled around in the trunk of your car…Now I carry one with me everywhere

I used to think that waiting 15 minutes for a bus was acceptable…Now I get frustrated if I’m waiting more than 3 minutes

I used to think that museums were kind of boring…now I am in love with the Met (10 min walk from

our house)

I used to watch movies in NY...now I see them being filmed

I used to think $2.00 for milk was expensive….Now I am happy to pay $4.00

I used to think cars were the only way to get around…now I love all the walking and train riding I get to do

I used to think squirrels were animated cartoon characters…now I see them running up trees outside my window

I used to think my hair was straight….now the humidity has shown me its curlier side

I used to eat pizza from Little Caesar’s….now I know what I was missing

I used to see my family a lot…now I have to use my cell phone a lot

I used to think that I NEEDED Wal-Mart…now I know people who have never even been in one!

I used to think that going to the movies was a fun date…now I prefer walking the Brooklyn Bridge or through Central Park

I used to wear flip flops year round…now my favorite shoes are my knee high rain boots

I used think that living in NYC would be a huge, terrifying change…now I wish we moved here sooner!
